Description: Body elongated and rounded. Large eyes, more than in Scomber scombrus, with fatty eyelid. Two dorsal fins, somewhat closer together than in Scomber scombrus. First dorsal fin with 10 hard rays. Second dorsal fin and anal fin followed by 5 pinnules. Caudal peduncle without central keel. Blue-green coloration, traversed by numerous sinuous oblique black lines; flanks and belly silvery white, with numerous diffuse dark spots, sometimes not very apparent. Up to 50 cm in length.
